Minutes (1908-1935), abandonment files (1917-1935), trust deed (1915), and miscellaneous historical data (1908-1970) documenting a Great Northern subsidiary organized in 1915 to take over the properties of the Mississippi, Hill City and Western Railway, which operated a rail line between Hill City (Aitkin County) and Swan River (Itasca County), Minnesota. The line was abandoned in 1934 and all assets were transferred to GN.

The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam.
